2021.12.07 06:56 Accomplished_Eye_791 is it worth settling for less for the sake of having love
i’m gonna start by saying that i grew up in an emotionally unavailable household, my dad is an emotionally/se*ually abusive that never cared about me or my needs except for my siblings and an emotionally abusive mom that has unresolved trauma, i can tell she genuinely cares for me but her way of dealing with my dad’s issues is by leaving us and coming back every few months, majority of the way i deal with love and how i show it is inherited from my parents habits, i met a lot of guys and i had few talking stages here and there yet i still couldn’t feel anything for them but truth be told they were all great and showed a lot of affection that it was overwhelming for me to take, a couple of years ago i met a guy and we kicked it, it was nice and very exciting for me! the fact that i actually got to feel something for him was really new to me as well as it was my first time telling someone about my sexual abuse and i got so carried away with how good it felt for 6 months that i forgot that when we started talking he had told me that he just got off his 3 year relationship, we lasted for 6 months as i said and it was mostly all so lovely but then he started acting cold and distant, he basically showed me that he was just using me as a way to get over his ex. at first he tried to gaslight me into thinking i’m just crazy and that his tweets aren’t about her but then i asked him again another day and he said he isn’t over her i completely removed myself from the situation and blocked him, i had a thing of going back to him and then leaving which is wrong and i admit it i wasn’t perfect neither, we were so on and off but this time like 3 months ago he came back and told me he’s serious about me and we had a good talk started realizing he changed and it was just going good till i realized he still had a thing with his ex and at this point i tolerated so much, i’ve seen that bitter side of him and yet i still loved him i put up with so many fucked up things that he did to me, i’m just crying over this because is it worth settling for less to keep someone who gives you some sense of familiarity when it comes to love? is this the only way i’d get to experience and feel love?? only when it’s screwed??? i’m stuck why do i tolerate this I genuinely worry I will feel this way forever. I felt so vulnerable writing this and i’m scared I’d get judged but please any advice would be appreciated thank you if you made it this far

2021.12.07 06:56 Heitrusan This game doesn't explain shit
I don't know if this is just me, but cards in this game don't actually DO what they say they would.
One example is the Silver Bullets card. What is the point of bullet penetration if this doesn't actually work on armored variants of any ridden or mutation?
Accuracy only affecting hipfire rather just saying "increases accuracy". When I first started this game, I assumed accuracy affected both hipfire and aim down sight. To my understanding, it only affects hipfire as I think aim down sight is 100% accurate?
And this is just cards. I have other issues, some of which going straight into explaining how this game is even played.
This game was literally marketed as a left 4 dead-like sequel, when in reality, it's a fucking roguelike with the need to farm to unlock cards to make better decks.
Nearly all my friends who played this game assumed the same thing and dropped the game as soon as they finished the campaign because they couldn't be assed to go through the whole experience again with their decks still unfinished from what they want.
There's a lot of reliance on assuming content creators are going to create content to help people learn the game. Some channels like Swingpoynt who do an awesome job explaining these things, but for anyone that actually tries the mechanics of the game, can pick up a lot of what he explains after a single run through, if you try out cards and different builds. The problem is trying builds isn't fun when you have to see which cards are shit and which aren't because there are a few cards that are legit garbage.
Bringing up Silver Bullets again, what is the point of bullet penetration? Killing more ridden? Nice, you killed 1 more ridden with that one bullet, which, inadvertently, alerted the birds you couldn't see behind that corn field which obstructs your vision. You pay 5 copper per mutation, thinking it would do well against, well, mutations, and you would ASSUME bullet penetration means you can shoot through armored cores, but that's not the case.
There are a ton of cards that bait players into thinking they're good because they're not properly explained and make players fucking build decks thinking they're better than they are.
The developers are literally relying on their community to 'discover' what's good or bad rather than specifically explaining what the cards can do when you equip them. A lot of the frustration with deck building and having to run a deck over and over again until you get that right combo of cards that will help you get through recruit, veteran, or nightmare, whichever difficulty fits your mood.
Another complaint I will mention offhand is how so many games think that they need to be 'dark souls' of their genre to be 'good'. Nightmare difficulty doesn't seem balanced at all outside of 4 players with extremely optimized builds that abuse whatever exploit is available to them, otherwise, they're at the mercy of RNG.
It's funny because Killing Floor 2 has a very good example of how difficulty scaling works there, giving their 'mutations' new abilities, like dodging, aoe spin attacks, sprinting, etc. It seems that scaling in back 4 blood is limited to corruption cards, which is fine, but also buffing hp to absurd levels. This makes dealing with sudden boss encounters on 1-1, 2-1, 3-1 near impossible, however, I hear they are fixing this next patch, so this last point may be a moot one.
TL:DR - Would love a fucking actual explanation of what the cards do instead of giving us bait as fuck cards like Silver Bullet and things like "bullet penetration" when what you really mean is, "Bullets penetrate through ridden, excluding armored spots/variants." Rant off.
Lmk how you guys feel getting into Back 4 Blood. Honestly, I want to like this game a lot as there's a lot I think is done well. I think the card system itself is a great step to pushing the type of game into a more fun and repetitive rinse, but at the same time, the poor difficulty scaling, the utter hopelessness you are to the RNG gods, and the fact that they REALLY try to push coop, but do stupid shit like lock attachments is fucking insane. You can't tell me how many times I've seen people regret picking up attachments, but have to ninja loot them because that sort of gameplay goes against quickplay and people trying to help their team.

2021.12.07 06:56 BobMcCoolGuy Parkour!
2021.12.07 06:56 Therian_Shiverscale Rogues should not have a 1/turn Sneak Attack limit
Sneak Attacks should not be limited to 1/turn, and here's why:
Going forward, I'm assuming an Attack Ability Score of 10 for ease of math. I'm tired.
Paladins get to do 8d8 damage per attack, by level 19, with no restrictions, provided they spend the spell slots. That's 16d8 per round, for 2½ rounds. 1d8 from Longsword, 1d8 from Improved Divine Smite, 6d8 from Smite. d8 average damage is 4.5, so we'll say 5. 5X8=40. Two attacks, that's 80. 80 average damage per round, counting no crits. 160 average if crits both.
So you're looking at 80-160 damage with a basic, nonmagical Longsword, 2 times.
So 160-320 damage.
Then, on Round 3, they get the 40, and then they drop down to 7d8, which is 35 average damage. So your damage drops to 75-150.
A Rogue, at the same level, has a 10d6 Sneak attack. And we'll use a Shortsword for another d6, simply for ease of math. As I said, I'm tired. 11d6 damage. Average on a d6 is 3.5, so we'll say 4. That's 44 average damage per round that you qualify for a Sneak Attack.
If you crit on your single attack, that's 88. 44-88 damage. Period.
Even if you Dual Wield, or have Haste, you only procc Sneak Attack once, so assuming the best case of Dual Wield and Haste, that adds another 8 damage, or 16 if both crit, so that brings out final calculations up to:
Well under what the Paladin can do.
And the Paladin isn't a pure DPS class like the Rogue. Yet the Paladin can, will, and does out DPS every other single class in the game. Multiclassing is where it gets fucky, and Hexadins reign supreme. Unless you have some weird multiclassing bullshit like Offbeat Outlaw's Nuclear Paladin build, or the Forever DM build which gets upwards of 20 attacks in a round.
If we let the Rogue sneak attack on every attack, he's limited to 1/round unless Dual Wielding or buffed by Haste.
That brings his damage up to 88-176. Barely more than a Paladin if either Dual Wielding or Hasted, and if both, that's 132-264
It takes him being able to Sneak Attack every attack to come close to the damage output of a Paladin. Slightly exceeding it, in fact, and putting the Rogue back on top as "King of the DPS martials". And Haste buffs him accordingly, now.
It's an RPG. Classes are not supposed to be 100% equal, or what the actual fuck is the point of having a class system? Rogues are supposed to be able to do more pinpoint (sometimes called precision) damage, should they qualify for their Sneak Attack.
Paladins should not be the best tank barring Barbarians, while also being a decent healer, while also dishing out more damage than anyone else bar none.
And before you mention "the Fighter-" the Fighter, assuming the same Longsword, get 8d8 per round as well, limit 2 round. His damage drops to 4d8 from then on, while the Paladin still has Smites to burn.
The Paladin outclasses the Fighter for DPS hard, and does it more consistently. But lets look at a Fighter with a Greatsword. 2d6 per, so 8 attacks with Action Surge, 3 with Haste. 16d6, or 18d6. We'll use the same 4 for average that we used with Rogue. 64-128 with no Haste, 72-144 with Haste.
Paladin still wins. In fact, wins harder.
Great Weapon Master would add 10 to every hit, sure, but with a -5 you won't be hitting every time.
For shits and giggles, lets see what the extra 80-90 gets us. 152-280 for no Haste, 162-234 with Haste. Assuming every attack where you have a -5 to hit (making your attack roll not 1d20+6, but 1d20+1), actually hits, of course. Actual damage output would be lower due to (statistically speaking) having Disadvantage on every attack. (Advantage gives a statistical +5, Disadvantage gives a statistical -5)
The Fighter has to be a specific build, with a specific Feat, and a specific weapon to outpace the Paladin, and can only do so for 2 rounds, then sharply drops off, while the Paladin is still going hard.
Let's look at Barbarians, as they get a bonus when they Crit. 1d12 for the cliché, 2d6 for better average. A Barbarian only ever gets 2 attacks.
1d12 average is 6.5, so we'll call it 7.
7-14 per attack, or 14-28 if you crit.
Except, no, Barbarians have Brutal Critical. So you're rolling 5d12 on a Crit, that's average 35, so 14-35 average per round, nowhere near the Fighter, Paladin or Rogue.
2d6, same 8 average per attack as the Fighter. So, two attacks. 16-32 damage in a round.
Done. Except, no, Brutal Critical again, making the rolls 4d6+3d6, or 7d6 on a crit, 7x8=56.
16-56 damage per round.
Better average damage than a Greataxe, I'll grant, but still paling in comparison to a Rogue, Fighter or Paladin.
Though, I will say, the Barbarian is gonna hit more consistently than the Fighter, as if both have GWM, the Barbarian can nullify that -5 to hit with his Reckless Attack, giving him Advantage, and thus a Statistical +5, making his roll (effectively) 1d20+6. It's still 2d20+1Kh, but statistically speaking, its 1d20+6. Even so, the Fighter has 4-8 attacks, giving him a better shot of hitting 2+ times in a round, still being better than the Barbarian for damage.
Math does not lie, and neither do I. Rogues should Sneak Attack every round.

2021.12.07 06:55 zen4ever99 Citadel holds 3 Kings.
There’s this incident that’s seared in my childhood memory.
In India, during festivals, family, friends, and neighbours gather together to play a popular card game called “Teen Patti” (Also known as Tri-Cards, Flush or Flash.) This is with money of course. And when you have about two dozen people playing, it’s interesting and fun to watch.
In this game, three cards are distributed one at a time, to all players who have contributed to the pot. The rules of the game are well established. Those who have cards with low probability of winning (no sequence, low pairs etc.) fold first. Then the remaining players bet and bid higher for the winning pot. This goes on till either someone folds or pays the money for the opponent to reveal.
So during this game, after a few rounds of bidding, the smaller players had all folded one by one. Only two contenders remained in the fray. The bids were getting higher and higher – till the two players were out of cash for increasing the bidding. So what do they do? Yes, leverage! After all, there are family, friends and neighbours around. So they borrowed money to keep the game going.
So high was the conviction of these two players, that neither was ready to fold. Basically, it was madness. Both players thought that they could win. So this had to end somewhere right? With one player refusing to budge, the other player on urging from others, finally asked for the reveal.
The player was holding 3 Kings. The probability of holding 3 Kings in a deck of cards is also the 99.9819% probability of winning. Almost a no lose situation. But what trumps that? A player holding 3 Aces, which is a 100% winning hand.
So this is how the game ended. One player, confident of winning with the second highest hand of cards with a 99.9819% probability of winning, ended up losing not only his own money, but also that was borrowed (leveraged) from family and friends.
The ongoing GME Saga reminded me of this incident. Citadel being a billion dollar hedge fund, market maker, dark pool operator, operating on the borders of legality with other multi billion dollar shady hedge funds, FTDs etc. had a money tap flowing. With these resources and tools. they could win, out bidding the opponent, no matter who or what was against them. Barring a once in a life time event they were confident that with so many cards stacked in their favour, gave them a win probability of 99.9819% - just alike holding a winning hand of 3 Kings.
That is till it didn’t. The game is ongoing. Citadel has thrown everything (including bedpost) into the pot. But the opponent is a retarded Ape. He knows that he has a one in a life time opportunity - holding on to 3 Aces. And he is not quitting, come what may. All that he has to do is hold. (And DRS.)
After all, against Citadel’s 99.9819% winning chances, the retarded Ape holds 3 Aces - a 100% winning certainty.
